Solving Weak Internet and Slow Computer Issues

John had just moved into a new 55-and-over apartment building in East Haven when he ran into an issue with his computer. It wouldn’t fully turn on, and nothing he tried seemed to work. He reconnected all the cables to his computer as best as he could remember, but it still wasn’t working as he needed. That’s when he called for help.

When I arrived, I found that the issue wasn’t with John’s memory. Sometimes, when computers are turned off and disconnected from their monitors, they don’t always start back up as expected. Display settings can shift. Sometimes what should be on the left monitor appears on the right, or sometimes one of the screens doesn’t turn on at all. After a bit of troubleshooting, I juggled some wires around and made the necessary adjustments in the settings. I helped Windows 11 recognize the monitors properly, ensuring the display was back to the setup John was familiar with.

Once the monitors were sorted, I needed to reconfigure his new Wi-Fi signal so he could access the internet. This was a straightforward process of entering the new network name and password provided by the apartment building. Within about 30 minutes, John’s computer was fully operational again.

John was relieved to have everything working smoothly. Moving into a new home is already difficult, and dealing with added issues on top of that can feel overwhelming. It’s satisfying to provide quick solutions that make settling in a little easier for clients like John.
