Raymond's Comcast Email Stopped Working on His Android Phone

Raymond could still use his Comcast email account, but it had stopped working on his Android phone. Re-entering the account information did not solve the problem because the phone itself was not the source of the blockage.

Xfinity includes a security setting that determines whether outside email applications are allowed to connect to a Comcast account. That permission was disabled, preventing the Android mail application from signing in even though the account and password were still valid.

After enabling Xfinity’s “Allow access to third-party email programs” option, the phone connected normally and Comcast email began working again.

While I was there, I also cleaned unnecessary software and startup items from Raymond’s computer and checked it for malware. No significant infection was found, and the computer was running better when the work was complete.

Email problems are not always caused by a forgotten password or a broken phone. Sometimes a provider-side security option can block an otherwise correct setup until the account explicitly permits the connection.
